Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! Here are the supplies that students in my class will need:
1 2-pocket folder for Homework
1 pencil box (to hold pencils, crayons, and other supplies)
1 box of Kleenex (for our classroom -- we go through about 30 boxes each year!)
Personal earbuds or headphones for use with our Chromebooks
Recommended: pencils, eraser, pencil sharpener
I supply all students with crayons and pencils. Extra pencils, erasers, and small pencil sharpener for use their desk are always helpful. I provide shared classroom supplies of colored pencils, markers, scissors, and glue sticks, but many students prefer to have their own.
If you would like to donate supplies to our classroom, we are most in need of Kleenex, white card stock, hand or baby wipes (no Chlorox please), and zip lock bags (especially gallon and snack sizes). I especially appreciate donations of small toys/prizes for my treasure chest.
Math News: We will be learning our multiplication facts this year, so you might want to invest in a set of flash cards or find a fun smartphone app. Our math program is Eureka Math. Click here for some helpful Math Links.
Writing News: In third grade we write narrative, informative, and opinion pieces
Reading News: All students need to be reading every day! They are expected to turn in weekly reading logs. Flexible reading groups allow us to meet each student's needs.
Science/Social Studies News: In Social Studies our focus is on our local community. We'll learn about the history of the Santa Clara Valley and will study the Ohlone native Californians who once lived here. Our Science units include Animal Survival and Heredity, Plant Life Cycle and Heredity, Weather and Climate, Forces, Motion, and Magnets.
